This is the copy of one of the earliest works of a famous Russian/Polish academic painter Siemiradzki. It is only available a good study of this work and original is unavailable. So I decided to use my imagination and make my own interpretation of his masterpiece. The story is about a Roman patrician choosing what to buy a girl slave or a vase. It shows how human life was less valuable than a material object. Do you think nowadays is somehow different? I made this copy of my favourite artist Siemiradzki intentionally different using modern photography references for the main characters and the background. Unfortunately for this particular painting, there is no good reference on the web. Anyway, the goal was to not copy one to one but instead discover some new things along.
